Hope Still Exists for Those Who Have Cancer.
A cancer diagnosis is like walking into a storm. Thick clouds gather above, and a thunderous clap mutes logical thinking. Yet in the storm, there are still pockets of here and light.
Through the winding maze of corridors, our journey is more often bathed in a dark ruby glow than any other kind. Around each bend, we expect events to change our course. But then there are the same comforting reminders: hospital staff continuing to provide a full scope of care and endless beeping machines playing life songs of progress.
Hope is nurtured within its walls. It yields the depth of shared smiles when words fail to suffice. Some of us have learned to find the small pleasures inherent in daily moments. But the morning light presses through that hospital window, softening those sterile walls, and we are reminded of beauty—how our world insists on being beautiful. A humanizing factor, the thick woolen blankets that warm our bodies and minds also remind us of home.
Treatment, While Still a Grind, Shows Promise to me; choosing to heal over the blues day in and out, even when nothing is being done, demonstrates the strength of an unyielding belief. There are numerous instances where alternatives and improvements in medicine have resulted from endless research hours designed to open new doorways of recovery. Message: Regular walks in the open air, moments to breathe and be alive, bring back an intrinsic faith for healing.
How much more does this tell you that we all have the same struggles? Patient after patient followed the same path, which let us know we are far from alone on this journey. The common threads of personal hardship and triumph make up each story, and together, they compose a harrowing tapestry of perseverance and humanity.
Inhaling the spaces between treatments, releasing our resignations from the past and abandonments to future anxieties, tethers us here in present depth. The chant of rustling leaves outside the windows, likewise faint voices and blurred silhouettes, signal us. Accepting that reality and facing it head-on can change the game inside our brains.
Resilience grows in the struggle of everyday life and every small step towards health. We hope we promise a zest for life on the way. Together, we remain positive and focused on our shared goal of finding peace and recovery.
